About Us
Founded on Crete in 1982, Labyrinth is a community of musicians and music lovers that has grown across Europe and the world. The idea has always been simple: to offer high-quality yet affordable courses, spend a week together, learn from extraordinary teachers, share meals, and make music late into the night around the fire.
This August, we are bringing that spirit to Vienna for the very first time. The workshops take place in the Hietzing district, at the Bildungszentrum, an ideal setting with spacious green gardens, accommodation, and all the facilities needed for an intensive week of music-making, including a concert hall.
You will spend the week together with teachers and fellow students, with the option to stay directly at the center or in comfortable, affordable accommodation within a 10-minute walk. The location is also just 5 minutes away from the U4 metro line. Fresh, daily cooked meals are shared with students and teachers, creating a communal and focused atmosphere throughout the week in one of the coziest and calmest corners of Vienna.
We truly believe that Vienna is missing this kind of concept. We are a group of musicians and music lovers running the project, with the aim of keeping it as accessible and affordable as possible for everyone interested.
Our aim is to concentrate on musical cultures that are closely connected to our past activities and that have particular social and geographical relevance in Austria and Germany. For this reason, our focus will be on Eastern, and Central European, Central Asian, Middle eastern and Indian musical traditions.
For this inaugural edition, we are honored to welcome Ross Daly, founder of Labyrinth, alongside a distinguished group of teachers from across the world.
